GLES was contracted by Engineering Northwest Limited (Thunder Bay) to investigate all environmental aspects (terrestrial and aquatic) for this 14km section of new Highway 11/17 Four Lane near Thunder Bay. Fisheries and terrestrial ecosystem existing conditions and impact assessment reports were prepared along with the necessary forms under the MTO/MNR/DFO Protocol. The MTO has plans to twin Highway 11/17 from Thunder Bay to the Highway 11 intersection in Nipigon. There were about 30 water crossings to investigate and the entire 14km section had to be walked for the presence of any special features or animals including birds, turtles and snakes.
