Shewfelt Creek Bridge Project

In 2008, an integrated team of engineers and technologists partnered with a municipal client to provide comprehensive planning, design, and construction management services for the replacement of Shewfelt Bridge.  The existing single lane concrete structure was situated on poor clay subsoil. Property restrictions and environmental concerns made this complex redesign a challenge for the design team.

Prior to beginning the preliminary design, our surveyors conducted an engineering site survey of the project area.  A Schedule 'B' Municipal Class Environmental Assessment was undertaken involving the evaluation of preliminary engineering design alternatives. Other engineering services included the completion of a hydraulic analysis of the existing structure, detailed design of the new two lane structure, assessment of design alternatives relating to fish habitat and mitigation measures and procurement of all necessary agency approvals including Ministry of Natural Resources, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Transport Canada and local agencies.  Our experienced engineers prepared a contract package consisting of Tender Documents, Contract Drawings and Background Reports & Approvals.  To ensure the ongoing success of the project, contract administration services were provided enforcing the requirements of the contract documents and ensuring a timely completion.
